International Organ Music Festival

1st Edition – Rome 2023

Under the auspices of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music

We are pleased to announce Maestri all’Organo – a new International Organ Music Festival that will take place in Rome. Its goal is to promote knowledge of the repertoire of the great composers of the past and of the numerous organ compositions by Cardinal Domenico Bartolucci.

M° Josep Solé Coll, First Organist of the Papal Basilica of St. Peter, at the Vatican and Organist for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff, has been appointed as the Festival Art Director.

I am grateful to the Bartolucci Foundation for this prestigious appointment. Every year, in the month of June, the Festival will host world-renowned organists and musicians, as well as instructors and students from the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music and from conservatories across the world. In addition to celebrating organ music, we will also pay homage to the illustrious master composer, Cardinal Bartolucci, and to his compositions for the organ, which are still little known and seldom performed.

The 2023 edition will feature five concerts by five different musicians from Italy and Spain.

The following instruments will be used: the Klais organ (1985) in the Church of St. Mary of the Visitation (Didactic Center of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome); the Tamburini organ (Opus 119 – 1928) in the Basilica of Saints Ambrose and Charles at the Corso in Rome; and the Mascioni organ (Opus 369 – 1925/1955) in the Basilica of the Twelve Holy Apostles in Rome.

We are currently accepting applications from performers for the 2024 edition of the Festival Maestri all’Organo. Submissions, which must include a CV and a cover letter describing the proposed concert, may be sent to segreteria@fondazionebartolucci.it by 31 December 2023.

The 2024 Festival line up will be decided in January 2024.
